There are many factors involved such as vehicle weight, seating, plate type, etc.
DMV has no Flat Rate for us to give you.

-Please DO NOT call us asking for a "quote" on how much it is going to be.
we DO NOT have an accurate quote to give you.
You can try to determine a quote for yourself using the links provided above.
RESTRICTIONS THAT WILL GET YOU TURNED AWAY FROM REGISTERING YOUR VEHICLE WITH US.
1. Your transaction is not a "Person to Person" Casual Sale.
A person to person sale is if you purchased your vehicle from the last registered owner.
The registered owner is the person who is listed on the front of your title.
It needs to be reassigned from that individual directly to you on the back of the title.
If there is a 3rd party, dealership, auction or junk yard involved you will be turned away.
below is a example of what a correct person to person sale looks like VS. what a 3rd party transaction might like.

THIS IS CORRECT
THIS IS INCORRECT
This is NOT a Person to Person Casual Sale.
If more than one
Owner Re-Assignment
is filled out or you have multiple Bill of Sales
You will be turned away.
YOU WILL LOSE YOUR $25 APPOINTMENT FEE IF YOU SHOW UP PAPERWORK LIKE THIS.

2. Titles stamped with any "AUTO LEGENDS"
Legends are used when a title is branded based on previous title history.
A few examples of common legends are
-REBUILT
-REBUILT SALVAGE
-ODOMETER EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS
-WARNING ODOMETER DISCREPANCY.
All stamped titles will be turned away as our system will not process the transaction.
Below is a example of what a title stamped with an auto legend can look like.

3. You are using a "Gift Declaration"
Gift Declarations are used when a Friend or Relative Gifts you a vehicle.
Unfortunately the DMV no longer allows us to accept them.
We have to charge sales tax on each transaction, so your choices would be to either pay the CT Sales Tax based on the NADA AVERAGE Trade in Value (you can look that up the amount using the link provided, it will be 6.35% of the average trade in value)
OR take your paperwork to DMV to use the Gift Declaration and skip the sales tax.
4. You already own the Vehicle
Unfortunately our system is set up to only transfer ownership from one person to another.
We can not process the transaction if the title is already in your name.
5. Out of State Titles must PASS Emissions
We are giving out Hard Plates with each Transaction, all out of state titles must PASS CT Emissions testing BEFORE plates can be issued.
-Out of state titles that are over 25 years no longer require emissions testing but do still need a VIN Check done at a Emissions Station before plates can be issued.
-If your vehicle can not go through Emissions or continues to fail, DMV can issue you temp plates until you can get it through Emissions.
-We CANNOT issue Temp Plates.

6. TRAILERS with a GVWR OVER 3000lbs
We can not issue plates to a trailer with a GVWR weight over 3,000lbs

7. Someone who is not on the Front of the Title has signed the Sellers Re-Assignment on the back of the title.
-This will only be an issue if that person DID NOT have the right to sign the title or if you do not have the appropriate Power of Attorney to go along with your paperwork.
You MUST have Power of Attorney over an individual to sign over a vehicle in someone else's name. You must bring that paperwork with you to register a vehicle in this situation.
-This is also the case when it comes to signers for vehicles being sold by a Company or LLC. You must bring something from the company listed on the title saying the individual who is signing the sellers re-assignment is authorized to do so.
Example below

F.A.Q. FOR OUR DMV REGISTRATION PROGRAM
Q- What is a person to person sale?
A- A person to person sale is if you purchased your vehicle from the last registered owner.
The registered owner is the person who is listed on the front of your title. It needs to be reassigned from that individual to you on the back of the title.
If it changes hands multiple times, has gotten re-assigned to different states through out of state dealers or auction houses we will turn it away.
Q-Can I just walk in whenever I want to register my car?
A- No, Our dmv consultants are not always available. You must make an appointment online.
Appointments are scheduled weekdays from 11:00am to 5:15pm

Q- Can we issue temp plates?
A- No, We can not.
Q-My Bill of Sale is written on a napkin is that good enough?
A- No, We need an official bill of sale, which can be printed from the dmv website here BILL OF SALE
a Q1 Bill of Sale is required when registering a car with an out of state title, if the car is 20 years or older and no longer has a title or if an error was made by the buyer or seller on the back of the title.
Q- My out of state title requires a passing CT State Emissions Test?
A- Yes. When Registering with an Out of State title you must bring your passed emissions paperwork.
This will also work as your VIN check.
If you can not take your vehicle through emissions you will need to take your paperwork to dmv to be issued temp plates to take it though emissions.

Q- I already own the vehicle, It has been sitting at my house for a year. Can I re-register it with you?
A- No, DMV only allows us to do new registrations.
Q- Can you issue Classic Plates?
A- No, We also can not transfer Classic Plates.
We have the ability to issue Passenger, Combination, Motorcycle, Camper and Trailer Plates.
Q- Can you issue In-Transit Plates?
A- Yes, If you live in and are licensed in another state, bought a vehicle from an individual in CT and you would like to drive it home, we can issue you a 30 day in Transit plate.
Q- Can I Register my Trailer with a GVWR of 3,000 lbs.?
A- No, the limit for our trailer plates is a GVWR of only 3,000 lbs. The GVWR is the light weight of the trailer plus it's filled weight capacity.

Q- Can my Friend bring my paperwork and register the car for me while I am at work?
A- No, Unless an individual has power of attorney over the person registering, The party registering the vehicle must be present for us to process the transaction.

Q-I'd Like to Transfer plates but they are my moms plates. Can you do that?
A- No, We can Transfer plates from car to car but not from person to person. If the plates are something you really want to keep, dmv can transfer those plates as long as you have written permission from the plate owner.

Q- I bought a car that is over 20 years old but I only got a Bill of Sale, is that good enough?
A-No, when a car is over 20 years old it no longer needs a title, it does require the past owners registration to replace the title. You will also need a Q1 Form as a bill of sale as the Q1 form replaces the "owner assignment" section from the back of the title.

Q- When will I receive my new title after registering?
A- We do not know. The DMV handles the retitling & will mail your title to the address they have on file. we have absolutely no control over it.

Q- I have a Gift Declaration because my nana gave me her car, Can you take that?
A-No, the DMV no longer allows us to take Gift Declarations. If we register your car, we have to change you the sales tax based on the NADA trade in value of the vehicle.
The dmv locations do take gift declarations, in which case you would not have to pay the sales tax.

IF YOU HAVE READ EVERYTHING ABOVE AND QUALIFY FOR OUR REGISTRATION PROGRAM
If your paperwork has a Dealership, Auction, Junk Yard, OR Wholesalers name ANYWHERE on it we can not register your car and YOU WILL LOSE YOUR APPOINTMENT FEE.
